i had the pleasure of seeing these guys live last month here in LA.. so freaking excellent. if you don’t love them yet, you should.
A few weeks ago, we were asked to do a live session in our practice space/basement for our friends at Sound on the Sound . If you havent seen their videos yet, especially the Doe Bay Sessions, go check them out. They are gorgeous. Special thanks to Abbey, Josh, Tyler and Chris for making this happen.

Flights - Pillar
Maybe it’s the rain today that makes this song/album hit so heavy. The rain always does that. But boy am I glad Mark stumbled on this, and decided to share. The album plays as a soundtrack for the contemplative wandering soul. The album title, Anywhere But Where I Am reminds me of a quote by French poet and philosopher Charles Baudelaire:
“It always seems to me that I should feel well in the place where I am not…”
But, contentment is a strong force, and halfway through this album, I already feel it setting in. That we may be happy wherever we are.

on monday i got to go down the invisible children offices in san diego and play on their live stream cam to help raise money for their latest benefit. i am always amazed by the people working and volunteering there, the kind of selflessness they possess is quite humbling. the man in the cage is a clear example of this selflessness, haha.. his name is timmy, and he’s locked himself inside this cage until 2 million dollars is raised. so, needless to say, if you have a few bucks laying around, go send em their way and get timmy outta there!

gracie and i saw each other play at CMJ recently but somehow failed to actually meet. so, we decided the only way to make up for this cruel un-introduction was to make a song together. <3

Keep yr eyes peeled for Gracie’s forthcoming For Summer EP release on Small Plates Records. Steffaloo’s got an excellent 7” out now on JaxArt Records for “On Fire” b/w “Red Runs Free”.
Proving he’s more than just a bedroom project, “Quilts” is Gracie’s first collab effort. This is also the first track where Gracie shows off some of his guitar and producer skills, modulating vocals, infusing reverbed samples and allowing Steffaloo to take the vocal lead, morphing into a Little Dragon-esque dominant songstress. It’s four minutes of pure infatuation. Gracie has arrived.

music. this is what happens when i feel things. and everything pulsing through my body seems to reach out and grab each pounding drum, every voice, every stringing sound and with it’s fingers it dances it in between and over and around my limbs. swirling through my hair. sloshing inside the front of my head, leaking in between the cracks of my skull and my brain. and for those few minutes from when a song first starts, to when it ends, i feel free. free to just exist. to just be fucked up and have no idea what i’m supposed to be doing with my life but to believe that it doesn’t matter anyway. free to just let myself believe that i’ll be loved someday. free to be a little lighter for once. that’s how i just block it all out.. how everything is beautiful and nothing hurts.
