not too long ago, i sent mikey from blackbird blackbird, whom i adore, some vocals to a song of mine called ‘meet me in montauk’.  little did i know he would take this song and turn it into something so hauntingly magical.  essentially, he turned this song into the song i’d always wanted it to be..   

i had written this years ago, both as a tribute to one of my favorite movies (eternal sunshine of the spotless mind) and also to the end of what had been my first experience with falling in love.  as the story goes, the saying ‘meet me in montauk’ had become our way of saying ‘lets meet in our dreams’, as our relationship was long distance.  as sickening as that may sound, it actually ended up coming to mean so much more than just a few lovelorn sentiments.  it spoke to that ever haunting question - ‘what if we could go back and have one last try; a chance to change something; or just say goodbye again. would it all end up the same?’… 

i don’t know.  but i suppose we could always meet in montauk to find out..
